Cotton Kantha Quilt in Blue Palm - Single / Double
- Unit price
- /per
These beautiful quilts are Hand Block Printed and Kantha stitched by a family of Artisans in Jaipur, then finished right here in Canada!
Each and every Kantha purchased supports this family and enables them to make a living by continuing on this centuries old tradition of Block Printing. This Palm Print is a Traditional print which has been used in Kantha Quilts for centuries. I worked with this team of artisans to get the colour and the shape just right. They created a Palm in a gorgeous Royal Blue for the shop.
The quilts are comprised of 6 layers of natural, organic cotton which are stitched together in the beautiful, traditional Bengali stitch. Even the stitching was hand dyed and chosen to complement the colours of the Rainbow. All of the dyes used in the printing are vegetable dyes. They are non-toxic, and baby/child friendly.
This project was truly a labour of love, and I am so delighted with how they turned out! They are available in both a Single/Double size (large enough for a double bed!) and a Crib Size. This one is Approx 75 inches by 83 inches. It fits perfectly on a Double Bed and is beautiful folded slightly for a Single, with room to move up to a Double Bed as your child grows!
All of the Kantha Quilts are hand block printed and hand stitched. This means that each design and colour might vary slightly from one another and from the pictures. This is not a flaw, it adds to the organic beauty of each piece!
Care Instructions:
Hand wash is best! Or Delicate cycle in garment bag on cool, then Line Dry
Do NOT tumble dry!
The Hand stitching throughout these Quilts create the Kantha Design. Kantha stitching is a loose hand stitch that is not knotted at each end. This might result in a few loose ends poking out throughout the quilt. This is not a fault, it is the nature and character of the design. You can simply knot the end of the stitch and trim if this bothers you.
